In this article, we are going to talk about a combination of venues you can choose to enjoy a wonderful day onshore; Pompeii, Sorrento, and Naples. This tour is available whether your ship docks in the Port of Naples or the Port of Salerno, even if the two ports are in different areas. You can check the links above to get your bearings.

So what would this day onshore be like? First of all, your day will start fairly early, at 7:30 am so that you have the most time possible to discover this wonderful area. Your Rome in Limo driver will be waiting for you just off the gangway of your ship, holding a sign with your party’s name on.

Your first stop will be Pompeii, the Roman city whose tragic end has preserved exactly as it would have been in ancient times. You can explore Pompeii on your own or with the aid of a guide, which we suggest having since the site is the size of a small city! Quite overwhelming to tackle on your own, especially when you consider you have a limited time since you won’t be spending the whole day there!

Of course, having a licensed guide will have an extra cost, but as mentioned above it will be absolutely worth it! If you wish to book a licensed walking guide for 2 hours in Pompeii, all you have to do is ask us!

Tickets to Pompeii do not need to be purchased in advance, unlike other sites around Italy. They can easily be bought on location since there isn’t a long line to get in. Tickets are about euros 13 per person, but prices may vary in case of special exhibitions held for a limited time.

After your visit to Pompeii, your driver will take you to the picturesque town of Sorrento, where you can enjoy more sightseeing and have lunch. The town is best known for being one of the best international tourist resorts, but also for its tasty lemons which are at the heart of the original Limoncello!

Enjoy a real Italian lunch at a family-owned restaurant, which uses fresh local products, which are a fundamental requirement of the Italian cuisine. Try the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, which, as the name suggests, are typical of the town. And don’t forget to finish lunch off with Limoncello as tradition requires!

After lunch, it will be time to head to Naples where you can see the Royal Palace, which features the statues of 8 Bourbon kings on its long facade and Piazza del Plebiscito.

Continuing to the Maschio Angiolino, christened Castle Nuovo ( New Castle) to distinguish it from the other 2 in Naples, an imposing Castle which stands guard over the port of Naples.
