In this article, we are going to talk about three of the most sought out destinations in the area; Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. This tour is available whether your ship docks in the Port of Naples or the Port of Salerno, even if the two ports are in different areas. You can check the links above to get your bearings.

This prevented it from undergoing the renovations which inhabited cities underwent through the centuries and from raiders who looted abandoned sites throughout history.

You can explore Pompeii on your own or with the aid of a guide. As a matter of fact, we suggest having a licensed walking guide to take you through the site, after all, we are talking about a site which was actually a city and the size of it is quite overwhelming!

The city area is about 163 acres, which means you can’t possibly see it all if you are to visit other locations in the limited time you have on shore, and having a guide with you will ensure you don’t miss out on the important parts and see all that’s worth seeing in about 2 hours. Tickets to Pompeii do not need to be purchased in advance, unlike other sites around Italy. They can easily be bought on location since there isn’t a long line to get in. Tickets are about euros 13 per person, but prices may vary in case of special exhibitions held for a limited time.

After your visit to Pompeii, your driver will take you to the picturesque town of Sorrento, where you can enjoy more sightseeing and have lunch. The town is best known for being one of the best international tourist resorts, but also for its tasty lemons which are at the heart of the original Limoncello!

Explore the lively pedestrian streets and alleys while you enjoy the beautiful architecture and bright colors of the buildings. Shop for some souvenirs in the many shops catering to tourists, where you can find all kinds of products made with or from lemons, but also ceramics inspired by them.

Enjoy a real Italian lunch at a family owned restaurant, which uses fresh local products, which are a fundamental requirement of the Italian cuisine. Try the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, which, as the name suggests, are typical of the town. And don’t forget to finish lunch off with Limoncello as tradition requires!

After lunch, it will be time to head to Positano, where you will spend the remainder of the afternoon before going back to your ship. Positano is a vertical kaleidoscope of colors; its houses come in all hues of yellows, pinks, and reds and the wisteria that cover some of the houses are the most luxurious purples and pinks!

Positano literally clings to the cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea below, which means you can expect many of the roads around town to be actually staircases. But no worries! You can visit the local shops and cafes at the landings to catch your breath!
