Tour, Cook & taste: Learn to Make the Real Neapolitan Pizza!
As we mentioned in one of our previous articles, there are several options you can choose from when your ship docks in Naples Port. In this article we’re going to talk about a fun experience which includes sightseeing, cooking and tasting all in one! Your kids will love this tour!
This, like many other Rome in Limo Tours from the ship, allows you to choose to have a Rome in Limo Private Tour, where the driver and vehicle are dedicated to your family only, or share the expenses with Rome in Shared Tours, where you still get a dedicated driver and vehicle, but for the whole group that you are joining. Tour Sharing groups are suggested between 6 and 8 people.
Once your ship docks, we suggest starting at 7:30 am. Your Rome in Limo driver will be waiting for you just off the gangway of your ship. He will hold a sign with your party’s name on in order to be easily spotted among the crowd of passengers and other drivers. After you have been greeted by your driver, your wonderful day on shore will begin!
Your first stop will be Positano, where you will spend the morning sightseeing. Positano is a vertical kaleidoscope of colors; its houses come in all hues of yellows, pinks, and reds and the wisteria branches that cover some of the houses are the most luxurious purples and pinks! Enjoy a nice stroll around the winding narrow streets and seaside cafès.
In the late morning you will head to Sorrento, where you should be around 11:30 am. Your driver will take you directly to the restaurant for your cooking class. Your Pizza teacher, a professional Pizzaiolo, will give you an apron and a hat and get you started on the first notions of Pizza making: which ingredients to mix for the dough and how to roll out the dough to get the typical round shape.
Of course, you’ll also learn about the ingredients to use for the topping of the Real Neapolitan Pizza: the mozzarella, tomato, basil, and olive oil. Add them to your Pizza and cook it in the wood oven. After just a few minutes it will be time to taste the delicious Pizza you’ve just made! Yummy!!!
Aftre lunch you’ll have some time to explore the lovely Sorrento before meeting the driver again to go back to the ship. The town is best known for being one of the best international tourist resorts, but also for its tasty lemons which are at the heart of the original Limoncello!
Explore the lively pedestrian streets and alleys while you enjoy the beautiful architecture and bright colors of the buildings. Shop for some souvenirs in the many shops catering to tourists, where you can find all kinds of products made with or from lemons, but also ceramics inspired by them.
